505 _aABSTRACT This research has been done to understand the building?s heat gain behavior in different orientations in the context of Ahmedabad. Various types of residential apartments have been studied to understand the typology and trend of the residential apartment designs in current market. On the basis of samples study, different building parameters have been selected and three base case models have been prepared, which represent 2, 3 and 4-BHK residential apartment?s typology. The research has been done using simulation software. Findings can play important role at various decision-making stages, from town planner to designer can follow appropriate orientations and building typologies while designing. Taking this research at a base, further research can be done to understand thermal performance of buildings in complex and urban level. CONTENTS 1.
