The rich and dynamic marine life of coral reefs adds to the splendour of living world of oceans, Corals are precious biological resource that exemplifies various ecological roles in making the ecosystem productive. Due to its steno-tolerant characteristics, corals are under several natural and anthropogenic threats; one of the recongnized threats is climate change.
Gulf of Kachchh in Gujarat is one of the regions that support a rich coral diversity. GEER Foundation, Gandhinagar presents this educational video documentary that elucides the corals and coral reefs of Gulf of Kachchh - its biology, ecology, distribution, diversity, functions, values, climate induced threats as well as conservation measures carried out by the Foundation. It is hoped that this film will go a long way in sensitizing the concerned sections of society in better understanding and conserving this unique biodiversity from degradation.
